3D models made in Blender
Project Overview
Throughout the course, Design through Enhanced, Extended Reality (xR), several tasks involving the creation of 3D models were undertaken. With each new assignment, the complexity and requirements progressively increased. The aesthetic design of the models was left open to personal creativity.
My learning process and outcome
I worked extensively in Blender and acquired various techniques for crafting 3D graphics. The journey was characterized by a steep learning curve, with the most significant challenges revolved around the "learning by doing" approach.
My experience was enriched by dedicating a substantial amount of time to manipulate various shapes and objects of differing scales, a practice that significantly deepened my understanding and appreciation of the intricacies within the world of 3D graphics.
Assignment 1: Create 3D models using various methods
Description and requirements: Begin by creating a 3D model of a coffee cup accompanied by its saucer. Following this, construct a model of a simplistic, unadorned room interior along with a chair. Ensure that both the interior of the room and the chair are equipped with accurate UVW mapping and textures are applied appropriately.
Assignment 2: Create two skyscrapers
Description and requirements: Create two distinct skyscrapers, employing a combination of modifiers and Boolean operations. Ensure that the models are equipped with simple, straightforward materials.
Assignment 3: Create 3D objects for a Virtual Exhibition
Description and requirements: As part of your design team, develop a virtual exhibition themed cohesively. Each team member will design 3D objects appropriate for the exhibition. These objects should reflect a complexity level in line with the modeling and material application skills developed earlier in the course. Additionally, they must be optimized for VR/AR environments. For our project, the team selected the theme the Lord of the Rings Trilogy. My specific task was to create 3D objects from Lothlorien, the enchanted forest realm.
After the course
During the course, one of the initial assignments involved modelling a chair in a room (as shown above). I found this task particularly intriguing. After completing the course, I further developed the room by placing a chair in a more realistic context, enhanced with flowers from Poliigon, deliberately choosing styles and arrangements inspired by the 1980s.
